Established in Osaka, Japan in 1969 by Kagemasa Kozuki, Konami is one of the video game industry's biggest success stories. From its beginnings as a jukebox hire and repair shop, Kozuki-san - who is still President and Chief Executive Officer of Konami - entered the field of entertainment and amusement arcade machines four years later. By 1984, Konami had opened successful offices in the US, UK and a key German subsidiary and expanded into home formats. It enjoyed huge success on the Nintendo NES format, extending its market share with a wave of well-received titles. Konami's successful initial public offering on the Tokyo Stock Exchangecrowned the 1988 business year.

Konami continues to be recognised as a leader in innovative and entertaining games, and is always looking to the future. In 1997, the Konami Computer Entertainment School was set up to offer young programmers and video game developers a professional start - and now boasts sites in Kobe, Osaka and Tokyo, making it theworld's major centre of its kind.

As it looks to expand its European operation, Konami has strenthened its Frankfurt office (Konami of Europe GmbH (KOE), with its headquarters in Frankfurt, Germany), which oversees subsidiaries in UK, France, Spain, Benelux and Scandinavia.
