Norwich University College of the Arts

Norwich University College of the Arts (NUCA) is a specialist arts, design and media University (rated top specialist arts, design and media institution in England, Guardian Specialist institutions League Table 2012), with 165 year reputation for excellence.

NUCA is dedicated to providing vocational, practice based courses. A portfolio of BA degree media courses includes Film and Moving Image Production, Animation, Photography and Games Art and Design.

Games Art and Design at NUCA develops student’s skills in the art of games and the idea of game form and is recognised for its focus on the art and design aspects of game development – the process of designing content, rules, level and interface.

Students’ skills are developed through lectures, small group tutorials, hands on creative work in 2D and 3D, practical software demonstrations and talks from a range of visiting industry professionals. Students graduate with a professional portfolio demonstrating their expertise as a game artist or designer and showcasing their personal website.

Based in the NUCA Media Lab students have access to industry standard software from Photoshop to Maya, specialist model making workshops and drawing studios. The course has Apple University Developer Status, enabling students to create apps and games for iOS platforms.

2011 graduates reached the finals of the Dare to Be Digital competition and received a BAFTA nomination with their Tick Tock Toys entry for the British Academy Video Games Awards 2012.
